About us

The Combined Probus Club of Helensburgh and District Inc was formed at a meeting on 12th February 2004. It was agreed that the club would follow a 60% female / 40% male membership ratio of the combined club with a limit of 100.

Probus originated in the UK in 1965. the first Probus Clubs were formed in New Zealand in 1974, and in Australia in 1976. Probus has filled a need for today's active retirees, so much so that the growth has been phenomenal. It is now a world-wide movement. It is an association of retired and semi-retired people who join together in Clubs, the basic purpose of which is to provide regular opportunities to keep their minds active, expand their interests and enjoy the fellowship of new friends.

The accepted constitution specifically excludes fundraising activities.

Clubs meet monthly. Committee reports including financial and activities are presented and any general business discussed. Morning tea is available followed by the guest speaker.
